Frequently Asked Questions
Our team is here to help. If you don't find the answers to your questions below, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
-
ERG ED® brings rowing to the classroom. It is a 5-day physical education unit, taught by teachers in middle and high schools.
-
The ERG ED® Grant includes up to 20 RowErgs, the curriculum, teacher training and support from the GPRF. Grants are awarded to “GPRF Partner Sites”. A Partner Site is a collaboration between a boathouse / rowing organization and school or school district.
-
Do you want to be more connected to the schools in your community? Is “increasing enrollment in the youth program” one of your key initiatives this year? If your answer is ‘yes’, reach out to learn more and apply.
-
ERG ED® is aligned with the SHAPE standards of Physical Education. Indoor rowing is a growing activity. This program is highly regarded by the teaching community. Typically, RowErgs are moved between schools for greater reach and impact.
-
Both new and current ERG ED® sites in the Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, ID, AK, MT) are eligible. We are also offering grants for curriculum, teacher training, and support for schools or districts that already have access to RowErgs.
-
We prioritize sites that serve communities facing barriers to accessing and experiencing the sport of rowing. We prioritize sites that are committed to a ‘pathway to on-water rowing’. This is demonstrated by partnership between boathouses and schools, strategic planning, and a commitment of time and finances on the part of the boathouse. We take into account the number of students served; smaller districts and communities are encouraged to partner together to expand the reach of the grant.
-
Review the ERG ED® webpage. Check out the sample curriculum. Read the success stories. Engage with fellow teachers, administrators. Connect with local rowing organizations.
