26 LU Team Rowing Relay

Every Kid Deserves a Team – Join Us

At the George Pocock Rowing Foundation, our mission is simple yet powerful: to help young people access and experience the life-changing sport of rowing.

Rowing builds strength—on and off the water. It teaches resilience, teamwork, and confidence.

But for too many kids, the barriers are too high: cost, transportation, lack of representation, and limited opportunities to even try the sport.

Your support changes that.

Each year, generous donations fuel our programs, creating spaces where young people can thrive and belong.

Join us for 26-point LU and help young women thrive.

What is 26-Point LU?

26-Point LU is not just an event—it’s a movement.
Every year, teams across the Pacific Northwest (and beyond) gather in person or virtually to compete in an indoor rowing relay, logging as many meters as possible on a single rowing machine in 2.5 hours.

  • FREE registration – just commit to fundraising for Camp Lucy.

  • Any team size – rotate through rowers however you like.

  • Your effort fuels access – every meter rowed helps young girls discover their strength and a safe place to belong.

This is more than a competition. It’s a chance to rally your community and create ripple effects of opportunity for girls who need it most.

The Heart of the Cause: Camp Lucy

Camp Lucy is a free summer learn-to-row camp for middle school girls, designed to do more than just teach rowing.

It’s a safe, welcoming space where girls develop leadership, teamwork, and confidence while connecting with mentors who believe in them.

Through rowing, Camp Lucy:

  • Builds life skills like resilience, communication, and problem-solving.

  • Removes barriers with free participation, transportation, gear, and meals.

  • Increases diversity and inclusion in a sport where girls, youth of color, and low-income families are vastly underrepresented.

Why Camp Lucy Matters

Girls are dropping out of sports at alarming rates—and missing out on the lifelong benefits that come with them.

The State of Girls in Sports

  • By age 14, girls drop out of sports at 1.5x the rate of boys.

  • Nearly 50% of girls quit sports entirely by the time they reach adolescence.

  • Youth sports have become a $40 billion industry, making participation unaffordable for many families.

  • Girls from low-income households are 25% less likely to play sports than their peers.

Locally, 26% of Camp Lucy participants qualify for free or reduced lunch, reflecting how deeply financial barriers affect access.

Why It Matters

Sports aren’t just about games—they’re about shaping futures.

  • 92% of women leaders in the C-suite played sports growing up.

  • Girls who play sports are more likely to graduate, achieve higher test scores, and experience better mental health.

  • Regular physical activity reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression by 20–30%.

Without access to sports, too many girls miss out on these critical opportunities for growth.

Camp Lucy: A Game-Changer

Camp Lucy tackles the very reasons girls drop out—or never start—participating in sports:

Camp Lucy’s Solutions

  • Cost of participation > 100% free camp experience.

  • Lack of representation> Women mentors who inspire and reflect the girls they coach.

  • Fear of failure or judgment > Trauma-informed curriculum creates psychological safety and confidence.

  • Transportation & gear barriers > All logistics provided, including rides, meals, and rowing gear.

  • Rowing’s lack of diversity > Active outreach to underrepresented communities.

  • Camp Lucy doesn’t just teach rowing—it builds community and creates ripple effects of belonging, strength, and leadership.

Be Part of the Change

When you register for 26-Point LU or donate directly, you’re doing more than supporting a camp.
You’re breaking down barriers, saying “YES” to a young girl who needs a team, and showing her that she belongs.
