The Renton Rowing Center is a community boathouse of the George Pocock Rowing Foundation. Located on the south end of Lake Washington, the Center offers a variety of ways to enjoy the water, including kayak rentals, SUP rentals, learn to row classes, recreational and competitive rowing, and youth rowing programs.
Youth (ages 12 to 18) can join the Renton Rowing Center Youth Rowing Team, which meets after-school three days a week. The focus is on learning the basics of the sport and then competing in local regattas. The youth team uses rowing as a means to develop new skills, learn how to work together, and challenge academic and athletic potential. We strive to provide full support – including scholarships, transportation, swimming lessons, and mentorship – where needed. Read more about Youth Rowing Scholarships here.
Adults can enroll in evening learn to row classes or join us for a learn-to-row day. Adult rowing memberships are available on a quarterly or yearly basis. With membership, you can access equipment throughout the year and participate in recreational rowing and racing.
Renton Rowing has existed since the early 80’s, however, with limited resources and minimal water access it was hard to get the program started. In the summer of 2013 Renton Rowing partnered with The George Pocock Rowing Foundation. In June of 2014, the doors of the City of Renton’s Cedar River Boathouse re-opened as the new Renton Rowing Center.
The Renton Rowing Center is located at the Cedar River Boathouse between Boeing and The Renton Municipal Airport. The street address is 1060 Nishiwaki Lane, Renton, WA 98057.
